Today I’ve finished a watercolour of Dunstanburgh, in the style of Turner again. It nearly killed me.

You are developing a flair for depicting sea and sky Colin. Traditional watercolour painting is a complicated art form which you are mastering beautifully. I don’t know if I would have the patience required, even if I’d chosen to do this type of art. I think I prefer to sit back and view the watercolours of people like you who do it so well. Lindisfarne was the original name of this island, but after the Vikings slaughtered the monks it became known as Holy Island because “it had been baptised by the blood of holy men.” It’s true title is The Holy Island of Lindisfarne

Thanks Doreen (my Mother was named that). You don’t hear that name around these days.

Thank you very much for favoriting.
As I mentioned to ‘bidduy’, below, i repainted this as ‘Stormy Lindisfarne’. Where I increased the contrasts, and added some more drama to the sea and sky.

I have the modified painted version of the above – ‘Stormy Lindisfarne’. Where I increased the contrasts, and added some more drama to the sea and sky.
