I have hiked occasionally in the Lake District, and this recalls for me the breathtaking colours to be found on those hillsides (when the light is right and it’s not raining!). Somehow you’ve managed to capture that. The fence and its reflection provide just enough foreground interest to make this more than an already exceptional landscape shot. Very nice.

  • Colin Cartwright replied

    Thanks very much, Paul.

Yes, it’s nearly 30 years since I was in the Lakes, it hasn’t changed.
I’m more into the difficult skill of painting, recently, but there is a temproary hiatus in my painting, so I thought I’d upload last week’s photos.

This is a lovely place Colin and you captured it wonderfully.

  • Colin Cartwright replied

Thanks Bon. This is really the place for paintings, (not photos) but due to my visit the lakes, I’m behind on painting! And comments are scarce here, so I thought, better a photo than nowt.

Thanks Rod. Bill Lee brought me here in April – I loved it so much I both photographed and painted it!

And I was there with Bonnie Steinbach, from Ohio, last week (in the rain!).

Colin, this another excellent shot of this fantastic location. This is a favourite spot of mine, having walked there many times over the decades! However, due to health issues I don’t do hiking anymore but hope to re-visit the location again in the future.

    Steve ;-)

  • Colin Cartwright replied

Thanks, Steve. I have a painted version of this in my gallery.
I only discovered this place last year! despite only living a hundred miles away in Gateshead!

I’m sure you’ll make the effort to get back there. just like I will.
