Colleen G. Drew is a photographic artist who specializes in creating traditional and fine art portraiture as well as fine art photography. Colleen’s love of photography began in high school while on a trip to the former Soviet Union and her passion for the art grew over the years. After studying art and photography at the State University of New York at Purchase, with working commissioned artists, she went into business with her sister, Maureen. Together they had a successful studio in the beautiful Hudson River Valley in New York State, where Maureen is still running the studio in the town of Rhinebeck, New York on the Hudson River. In the summer of 2002 Colleen and her family relocated to Highland Village, Texas. Since moving to Texas Colleen has built up her portrait business while working for several of the charities in the area such as Cloud 9 Charities, The Children’s Advocacy Center, PediPlace and the Sue Weaver CAUSE. She helps to raise money for these charities and others through the donation of her art for auction and volunteering her time. She participates in the Annual Cloud 9 Salon & Spa Art Gala where they transform the salon into an art gallery for the evening and several artists offer their art for sale to raise money for The Children’s Advocacy Center and PediPlace. In 2009, Colleen became active in the Visual Art League, located in Lewisville, Texas. She is helping to raise awareness of the arts in the community by participating in several community events. She recently coordinated the Art League’s very first photography exhibit and gave an Art Talk about photography to the members at their monthly meeting in September 2010. Colleen displays her artwork at several local venues in Lewisville, Texas and is a regular participant in the exhibits at the Visual Art League Gallery.
At the present time most of her inspiration for her work comes from the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. She focuses mostly on the natural surroundings of Texas but also has an interest in capturing architecture and some local history. Colleen enjoys sharing the world as seen through her eyes.
