I’m a big fan of Australian native plants. Exotic stuff suck up too much water and are diabolical for growing stuff under. But there are times when the exotics shine. Bright, a small regional town in the north east of Victoria, has a pretty spectacular boulevard of conifers and decidious trees (elms I think). Autumn delivers.
Shutter work by my son, and (at the risk of it sounding pretentious) art direction by me while we drove up and down the road into town.
Oooooooh very very nice! Love the rush of colour! Better than any drug high ever could be! Bravo on your collaboration with your son :o)
Cheers A. We picked the potential for this shot on the drive in the night before. The lad did good. Hadn’t used the camera before and I’m barking out instructions on angle and settings while trying to get the road speed right. It was all a hoot.
brilliantly thought out….clever abstract, like this one!
Ta AC. Bit of shame that the shot had to be taken on the way home. Woulda liked to keep working on the concept, but in the end I liked the pastel qualities of this. As BF said, the colour display up in the Ovens Valley right now is awesome. I believe they have some sort of autumn festival thing on at Bright this up-coming weekend.
Yes they do…..wont make it back up there again though and it will be prettttttyyyy cold!! The rain may have knocked a lot of the leaves out of the trees too…..it was lovely up there apart from the smoke!
Cheers JMS. Was thinking I might have been able to produce this by the simple expedient of using the zoom while doing a longish exposure. But driving along and doing it was fun (and avoided the thrillseeker thing of shooting from the middle of the road!).
This is a WOW shot Col. How great to collaborate with your son, too! You can’t look at this display of colour and the startling movement without feeling good. Thanks.
I spend an inordinate amount of time trying to make meself feel good e., so nice that some of it has rubbed off.
this is so cool, i have to try it, the effect is spectacular!
It did end spacy JO. Just checked specs. It was shot at f 32, half a second, ISO 500 with the lens at 85mm (thought it was wider, but that’s what the specs say). We were shooting into the sun for this shot and travelling at about 40 kilometres per hour. These settings were worked out “out the run”. Obviously, there’s lots of other settings that would do the trick. Probably the key ones being shutter speed and vehicle speed used.
