Wapping Rope

Wapping Rope

Rope Circle in Wapping, London

The sculpture is made out of ships hawsers which have been shaped and stiffened to keep their form, standing next to the Hermitage Basin.

HDR shot from 1 RAW file (was in a hurry- no time to take more!)

Does it show a slightly murky and deserted side of London? Perhaps, but I don’t know, please comment!

Best viewed large as there’s a lot of detail in the image.

Great shot Jonathan – that’s what I love about London…away from the touristy / popular bits, there’s a whole new (slightly murky and eminently photographable) world waiting to be discovered.

  • Jonathan Dower replied

    cheers Dan,
    i would agree with that!

I find it appealing.. very peaceful and quiet. Like early morning when very few people are about.
Sometimes those quick shots are the ones meant to be.. favoured opportunities seized, that can mean a lot to others who weren’t there but get to share in the moment later through the alert artist’s presence.
