Down the dirt roads up country hidden in shadows of giant red gums away back behind the crops and fields out of sight of the way you come
We hunt for old stone chimney pots and the tell tale cotton palms shading the entrance of a once stately home and the history safe from harm
With walls of stone brick or weatherboard and verandas long and wide rabbit warrens of rooms and halls and corridors inside
Trims of dado rails and skirting boards and ceiling roses higher than the reach of a broom sash windows from floor to architrave and echoing space in every room
and the garden shall remember violets roses jasmine daisies and hyacinths bougainvillea and chrysanthemums chamomile rosemary and thyme lavender mint sage and parsley trees bearing all manner of soft and hard fruit apple apricot plum lemon mandarin and lime and berries so many berries with flavours so divine
With outlooks of valleys and hills and fields sheltering mountains and distant shore and sounds of water trickling and falling and scents of so much more
For then we shall find our paradise a place that we can call home and we shall stop and settle in and no more shall we roam
♥

thank you adgray for again adding a story to a painting of Cols. He is painting like a dynamo lately, some beautiful paintings for some six art shows coming up in central Victoria in the next month , including long weekend in June. Your writing adds a beautiful touch. R, Heather
