I got started in photography as a youngster because my grandfather loved taking photos. He gave me his old SLR and I took some classes to learn how to use it. I stuck at it through school but didn’t go on with it after I left.
More than a decade after leaving school, I finally picked up a camera again. In 2005 some old friends came to Tasmania with their digital cameras. After seeing them, I decided to get back into photography, so I got my first digital camera and haven’t looked back since. I think the ability to shoot multiple images and see the results virtually instantly has helped me improve over the years.
In late 2007 I finally upgraded to a DSLR in an effort to improve my images. Each time I go out to shoot I try to improve.
My images are taken all around the beautiful state of Tasmania, Australia. I’m lucky enough to have lived here all my life and I doubt I’ll ever move. My favourite location has to be the Tasman Peninsula. It has an amazing coastline and history with its convict past.
Besides photography my other pastime is golf. I’m a mad keen golfer and play almost every weekend. I’m not a world beater but I enjoy myself! When I got my first digital camera I combined the two activities. I’d take the camera out and photograph my playing partners during the round. I’m not sure they enjoyed the experience as much as I did, but they never complained. :)
