Oklahoma City National Memorial. This Field of Empty Chairs rests on the site where the Murrah Federal Building stood before a massive bomb exploded destroying the building on April 19 1995.
168 chairs rest here, one for each life lost. They are arranged in 9 rows representing the 9 floors of the building and placed according to where each victim was at the time of the blast. The 19 small chairs are for the children killed.
The Reflecting Pool here looks bottomless but is only three-quarters of an inch deep. It stretches along what was the street in front of the building.
A truly sacred place.
