As some of you know my Dad is in hospital in Intensive Care. He will be there for a while as he needs full 24 hour oxygen along with other treatment while he recovers from collapsing several days ago. He has blood clots on his lung as well as having pneumonia so he is a bit of a worry!
He does have an underlying lung disorder, pulmonary fibrosis which was only diagnosed this past year so it’s all a bit stressful really.
But he’s doing really well, is eating and able to talk more strongly and is a model patient apparantly, the nurse said I should be proud of him :) It’s just a matter of time now till his lungs are working enough to be able to breathe without the oxygen.
I can’t go see him just yet, I’m recovering from a flu bug and bronchitis so they won’t want me anywhere near. He’s got his wife (my stepmother) and other family to visit him so I’ll wait until I’m fully recovered before I visit.
I posted a recent photo of my Dad “I’m Praying For My Dad Tonight” several days ago and it now means so much more to me than when I took it.

Take care Its a worry but also sounds positive and these are the things you keep to mind Get well your self and then up to see DAD Take care Thinking of you Frank xx
coffeebean:
Oh thank you Frank, very kind of you. Yes it does sound positive, he’s a very healthy guy apart from his lung condition, he’s always kept fit and active, never smoked, and he’s kept the same weight he was when he left school (as he tells anyone who’ll listen!!), he’s rather proud of that and i guess he should be actually :) Anyway I’m getting better by the day so it’ll be so nice to get up and see him soon. Thanks so much for your caring thoughts. xx

You have my thoughts and prayers for you fathers speedy recovery.
I’ve had the pneumonia thing at it’s no bed of roses I tell you…but it did show me to love everyday no matter what.
coffeebean:
Thank you very much Von, I really appreciate that so much :)) I really think he’s going to recover well.
You’ve also had pneumonia, poor you! I do hope you recovered well and are staying well. Hey I do really like your saying Von….“love everyday no matter what”…I’ll remember that. Thanks heaps for your kindness :)

Oh, sorry to hear you can’t visit yet. It is good news knowing he is getting better with his breathing and talking well. Is there a window to his room where you can wave to him. That would make him smile at you :)
My prayers are there with both of you day and night. BIG HUGS oxoxox
God Bless you both.
Ann
coffeebean:
Thanks so much Ann I really appreciate your support. I hope to visit Dad tomorrow, I spoke with him by telephone today, through his oxygen mask!, he sounded quite good really although I know he’s got a long road to recovery in front of him. He has his age against him but apart from his lungs he’s pretty fit and healthy so hopefully he’ll be ok. By the way, ICU is way up on the top floor Ann… lol :)) Good thought though!! Thanks so much for your lovely support xx

I so appreciate you finding this journal entry and commenting so nicely and for your kind wishes.
Unfortunately my Dad took a sudden nose dive with his health and died not long after posting this.
5 months ago now, seems so long ago…..
I’m sorry I haven’t updated this but I’ve been quite sad and hurting to have lost him so suddenly and way too early for the active and busy man he was before he got so sick.
He was a good man, a loving and caring Dad and I miss him a lot.
Heartfelt thanks to you for your caring words Skeee, I really do appreciate them. :)
