'Sheep Tracks Above Westy Bank Wood, Bolton Abbey, Yorkshire' by

Went walking around Bolton Abbey yesterday with my good lady and we were surprised at the amount of snow still lying considering the thaw that had taken place at home just a few miles away. Bolton Abbey can get very busy, but if you are in the know you can soon lose the crowds; one such ‘escape’ is up through a small wood called Westy Bank (filled with bluebells in the spring) and out onto Eastby moor. The linear qualities of the dark drystone walls and the tracks made by sheep against the white inspired this painting.
Pen and ink wash on Bockingford watercolour paper.
