a very gentle little painting martin x

  • Thanks Linda! Yes, I suppose it is quite a tranquil piece compared to some of my more vigorous works… :-)

Beautiful work Martin – my dad was from Anglesey and I think that you have captured the light and colour of the Welsh countryside so well

  • Thank you Julie-Ann! I’m so glad you think I have got the lighting right – it IS different in Wales!

What I find extraordinary about your artworks Martin, is the way you create the very mood of the places using such wonderful colour. This is another stunning painting which really does capture the atmosphere of the Welsh landscape :-)

  • Thank you very much Constance! Glad you like this one. The church is in a wonderfully-hidden location in a graveyard crammed full of purplish-blue slate headstones – a very inspiring place. The colour in the painting came from those headstones and I restricted my palette to keep it harmonious. Most of my work uses very restricted palettes and it seems to work… almost everytime ;-)

Oh, I can feel the rain trickling down my neck, great pen and ink.

  • Love Wales! Great atmosphere, but you have to like the wet, too! Thank you very much Sue, much appreciated.
