Desert Canyon

A few miles passed Tortilla Flats, which is outside of Apache Junction, Arizona, this wonderful little oasis pops into view, part of Salt River. Although it is nearly Christmas, the vibrant yellow foliage remains.

Beautiful color and capture. I lived in Phoenix many, many years ago, when Apache Junction was a gas station and diner! LO Don’t remember scenery like this.

Thanks for comment! Do you remember where Tortilla Flats are? Down Bush Hwy toward Lake Roosevelt is where this is. Most people drive right by it.

A fabulous shot Chelsea. Great colours and composition.
Y’know – I am full of envy over the colours of the trees in the US during Autumn (Fall).
Here in the UK we seldom enjoy such glorious colouring, although 2008 did have some pretty good hues, but I guess it’ll be at least another decade before we say that again!

Thanks again Paul. I didn’t know that the UK didn’t get the fall colored foliage! Well, where I live now doesn’t snow so that shoots down any snowy winter scenes!

We do get some Autumn colours, the best are on imported plants like the Japanese Mapel, but our native trees are not as striking as yours (I visited New England in the Fall a few years ago, and it was wonderful). Our Autumns are often damp and frequently windy…which does little to keep the leaves on the trees!

This is a fantastic shot Chelsea, absolutely beautiful. We only have 1 native deciduous tree here and we have to hike in the mountains to see it.
So for our autumn scenes we are mostly limited to introduced European trees that are in dribs and drabs compared to your magnificent hillside scenes.
