lawyer types just love it
wrapped up in process
covered up in clauses
hopefully you’ll miss the point
and just
drop
this
The in-action of legal action
flawed is the system
but we’re all pawns for it
why bother?
for years I deplored it
I hated
shunned
and scorned it
but then
there came a time
when I thought in my innocence
that it really could reward
so I forget my petty grievance
in favour of sure thing?
everything hinges on hearsay
where I was and what I did
yesterday
eleven fucking years ago
today is another long and drawn-out story
but that’s not the point really
Is it?
They ask for concrete details
until I’m dragging out my entrails
then all they can say in thanks
is that my statement is not conclusive
success is illusive
justice is just a fucking nuisance
I can’t use the process to process payments
can’t take it home and eat it
my phone bill won’t pay itself
and this rhetoric won’t help
will it?
perhaps I should have followed my heart
perhaps I should have torn that mother fucker apart
when I had the chance
Instead, I made a choice to do
‘The Right Thing’
now here I am standing for all to witness
while his buddies look at me with eyes that say

you sing yourself to sleep
deep
in an early grave
because our mate has cash
and we know that you’re not scared
to turn up
for another court date
fuckin’ pussies
and I’m the prey
I could call 111
but what would I say?

Police please
I’m dying
I opened my mouth in court
and let the devil fly right in…’
