A winner in the race to the sun,
roots flexing at river’s hunger,
bathed in day’s last light,
another day survived.

A view across the flood of the River Nidd, at Hammerton in North Yorkshire , England, towards the winter’s setting sun. The strength of the flood can be seen on the ripples as it tries to flow under this old stone bridge and yet this tree has seemed to have survived yet another flood.

Converted into black and white and best viewed large.

Shot on an Olympus E30.

Don’t tell me ! Dust + flood = the sticky mud I got stuck in the other day (but very proud that I managed to get the car out of it before the rescue arrived ! We had heavy rains lately in the desert ! ;-)

  • well you did ask to borrow a few clouds for contrast in your shots ;) lol
