Artist's Description

Black gold hunger fed,
this iron volcano of steam,
moor and dale carved by axe and pick,
soon to leave valley home.

The North York Moors Railway station at Grosmont, North Yorkshire, England on a clearing winter’s morning. The morning departure, slowly building up a head of steam for the journey ahead along the Esk Valley and in to the North York moors National Park.

Converted into black and white and best viewed large.
