Fading hulks against the grey,
silent to the passing of time,
lost to memories of dirt and grit,
a time, when they were king.
A silent pair of cranes stand proud against the rain in Salford, near Manchester. Once these quays were the life blood of commerce, now the industry and homes have all long gone. Destroyed by bomb and a changing world.
This is now a major redevelopment area in Manchester, a place of light industry, retail and office, placing cultural centres and hotels here to bring a new generation to this area.
Yet the tramlines and cranes echo from history.
Converted into black and white and best viewed large.
