Upon this ridge of land I stand, wondering if my glory will return. Trees protect my walls where once soldiers stood, Empty now my heart, like an ancient oak, I still hold on.
Looking across to Sheriff Hutton’s more famous castle in North Yorkshire. This is the best way to see the ridge of land upon which both castles were built. The first castle faced the other way, reflecting the danger faced, while this castle was built to look towards the power strong hold of York, which on a clear day can be seen.

Maybe the best of a grand lot, but who’s counting. Would make a fine book cover – books of the tales of M. R. James or Bram Stoker…. Outstanding in any case.
LOL now would you care to spend a moonlight night with my teeth..sorry my sweet ;) lol
