Framed by the ruin of the season by

Now a place of tired ruin,
framed by the ruined limbs of winter,
roots watered by a still moat,
soon to bear their own coat of arms.

A view across one of the part surviving moats towards the ruins of Sheriff Hutton Castle in North Yorkshire.

A now safer walk around this ruin is available, well a lot less muddy than it used to be anyway :)

Converted into black and white and best viewed large.

    Stunning shot Richard….

  • Thanks Jason, this was a small wander round this place after a long day, had great fun relaxing here and getting some shots before that green stuff gets in the way of the view ;)

Lovely work – is it wide angle? Polly :)

  • If you had seen me trying to get all this in and not fall into the moat behind me with the lens wide open.. lol to get the image size I print to, 20 × 16inches, the software slightly clips the edges of the original file

Just grand – stark, interesting, full of action.

  • Thank you Sheila, because this is on private land, it is a bit of a hidden gem still, despite the way it stands out on the landscape
