Cut through rock and mud,
dug from stone and ore,
forged in hell’s kitchens,
hammered home one swing at a time,
a vein of industry across this land.
As you leave Garsdale Head in the North Yorkshire dales, you stumble briefly into Cumbria, but along this shared valley edge, runs the famous Carlisle to Settle section of railway.
