Of silent hopes and power trading by

Whispered hopes of fear and desire,
fear and guilt and joy winged airs among the stone,
deep from earth, now holding the sky light,
pillars of tree, made now in stone.

This is a view of part of the interior of the church of St Peter, better known the world over as York Minster.

Though we see chairs here now, it used to be a vast open space, where people stood and when not in use for services, it would be used by local traders as a market mart, alongside the power struggles of local, national and international politics.

If you are lucky enough, look out for this choir,The Sixteen here at the Minster or at one of their other venues and hear how these old builders built for sound as well as vision.

nothing wrong with showing your age. I dont mind admiting my age but most women are vain about it

  • until they reach an age at the bus stop or on the train, when they keep telling you just how old they are lol

Wow….I bet this was overwhelming…such greatness must linger in these rooms and halls!

  • It is funny Beve, there is a small disused church round the corner that feels more like that than this place, but when this place is filled with music, like that of the Sixteen, it becomes a stereo system made in heaven
