Grasping at air and last winter sun, cold lie my water washed roots, tears fall for my fallen family, washed by the river’s claws to rest at my feet.
This section of the riverside, by the River Ouse, is named Dame Judi Dench Walk, in honour of one of York’s more famous daughters. It also a favourite spot to moor boats, walk along the river besides the Museum Gardens, head down towards the flood plains and a much favoured haunt of painters and photographers when it floods :)
