The afternoon sun shadowing the pedestrians walking through Micklegate Bar in York.

This is the traditional Royal entrance to York, a fact forgot by a certain Prince A’s driver, which lead to a slight traffic jam as he then had to turn around and drive round the ring road till he came into this entrance..

Where this arch now stands a pub used to back up to it.

using the arch to frame the shot is superb. you have used the harsh light to your advantage. rather than fighting it, you went with it and the results speak for themselves. brilliant street shot.

This is a shot I have been trying to take for ages, but each time the traffic just moved and let me out, this time it stuck and I got the shot.

    Thanks for the comment

Really like the drama you’ve captured in a not-so-mundane street scene. Definitely a past-present blend – bravo – two moments in one.

  • Thank you, helps to have all this history pressing against the present
