XP and MSN "security updates"
Any one else’s computer going mad since this last raft of updates started coming out over the weekend?
Can not even get IE to open and each up dates seems to freeze up the comp for a while and have to reboot.
Thank god for firefox

Been a firefox user for years now, better security and loads more stable, may look into those new operating systems for the desk top, meant to be better than MSN at the moment. Funny how these bugs are happening when they are putting microsoft 7 onto free trial

just think of the fun, learning to cook, being nice to the kids and spending quality time with them, polishing C’s slippers, flower arranging at the local church ;) Another ruddy update when I turned on the computer too

Over chrsitmas I actually downgraded from Vista back to XP and it has been stable ever since especially running Firefox. But I had to re-install XP several time to realise that the propblem was not a piece of hardware which had gone tits-up but the service pack. Im now “stuck” on Service pack two if Service pack 3 for XP installes, or tries to the computer goes belly up again!

Heard so many people have done that, also the same is happening with Photo shop all singing version, people are retrograding back a version.

Must admit I’ve refused to move on from Vista to XP, and some moths back turned off all automatic updates….I decided to believe the old saying, “If a thing isn’t broken,....”

trouble is most of these are security patches and having broadband, catch 22 really

I love CS4 Ive had no problem with it at all and whilst I only scrape the surface of its abilities I’m enjoying the new interface and a few of the additonal feaatures built in.
I had to turn off auomatic updates ton Carols Laptop that is still running VIsta, the machine would not shut down when trying to install the latest update

lol was talking to another photographer who has down graded back to elements. he has bought PSPro for basic fixes etc and then opens elements to use all the plugins. He said all he was using PS for was to run all the plugins which were doing a better job the CS4. Guess it comes down to personal taste and cost these days

I have done all of those things in a past life, apart from the church, found it all so boring, much more fun being just me :)) I am now wondering if new laptop is the right thing to do am slightly dubious about vista and might have to install XP, but this one is so old and struggles because like me it has small memory capacity lol

think if the comp has vista on from start and is not the basic version, it seems to work well (brother’s all singing all dancing one is OK) So that is two breakfast trays you will have now then? ;) Now are you doing the flowers every other week or the teas? lol
