Nature's weather eye
For the cloud spotters, can you see Mother Nature and her all seeing eye?
This is the clouds above the River Trent as it flows past the village of Owston Ferry in North Lincolnshire.
Converted into pinhole black and white and best viewed large

This is a place where the light can be a nightmare or a joy to photograph, not a bad view from the pub garden is it? Thanks as always Tina

If black is the colour of true Mother Nature’s hair, then she has also long embracing arms… Strange contrast between the erratic order of the clouds and the neat and straight aligned landscape on the shore…
clickinhistory replied
LOL you spotted that as well, thanks Helene, it is a slightly surreal area of flood plains and old island villages now surrounded by fields rather than marshes

love the stillness in the water, against the dramatic curves and shapes of the clouds. Does missus Nature look a bit miffed, I think I can see her glaring down. lol
Cheers,

Jan Timmons
Such an appealing scene and photo. Do you use a red filter, too, if I might ask?
clickinhistory replied
tend to use a polarising filter and some times a ND one and if the light is really strong the two together, plus the UV filter that just stays ont he lens, the rest is shutter speed and playing with the software lol
Jan Timmons
First you see the scene, then capture the photo beautifully, and then play with what software? And with so many filters, you succeed in a sharp image. Perhaps you don’t have dust, dog drool and fur, or fingerprints in the UK.
clickinhistory replied
lol you should see how unclean my filters are sometimes. Started recently to shoot in RAW, which has given my work a major boost. Start off working with Paint Shop Pro X2, select areas to bring out details, apply layers of selective sharpening till I am happy, save as JPEG, then use Silver Efex to convert into black and white and get the various affects I saw inthe image when I actually took the shot. And lol replace dog with cat hairs lol

i’d like to congratulate you on your adherence to the rule of thirds in this shot . . .
and that it is so beautiful despite that.
you have a gift for catching the sky at its most magnificent.
clickinhistory replied
I know I know, I fail when I do and get shouted at when I don’t get the thirds, he is moaning about my tenths now lol
Thank you for a lovely comment hsien_ku
