A tree and some fell light

A single tree stands high above Great Langdale in the Cumbrian Lake District, against the passing rain clouds, while (OK squint and view the large version lol ) a small flock of birds circle against the clouds.

The light just broke through below the tree as I raised the camera.

Each time I deliver to the Old Dungeon Ghyll, I always check to see if it has survived the passing seasons.

A tree and some fell light belongs to the following groups:

Hope you did not disturb to much, this tree obviously likes to be alone…!

  • clickinhistory replied

was careful and used the zoom lens lol, it is all the walkers that pass close by that keep it awake ;)

LOL! A lone tree… normally I would classify lone trees as photographic cliches, but this is untypical and excellent. Brilliant composition and mood.

  • clickinhistory replied

Thank you Richard, lol the whole world is a cliche and we camera folk try to make it feel seen for the first time

i love lone tree shots – what is it about them that pulls at our heartstrings? this one is especially poignant!

  • clickinhistory replied

Thank you Nadine, I think it is the way they seem to just stay there, despite all that is thrown against them and each season are just happy to have grown another inch or so. Perspective sometimes on the way time is measured by ourselves
