Of commerce, transportation and pleasure

taken under Lendal Bridge, looking down the River Ouse as it flows through York.

The sun was just coming over the building horizon and this rower came into the centre of the river.

Converted into Holga/film.

i agree with snik. i can hear the creaking of the seat and rollocks. was it good in colour?

  • clickinhistory replied

the haze and the brightness of the light, washed most of the colour out of the image and made almost a natural b/w, thanks as always Jon

What is Holga/film conversion all about. Your B&Ws with that note are stunning. I am not sure if that conversion has to do somewhat with it (after obvious basic ingredients like composition, light, etc..)

  • clickinhistory replied

it is a bit of software magic, allows you to pick a camera style and then add a choice of film types, then you play with contrasts points to bring out any details that might have been lost in the conversion. Helps add to the atmosphere that is already there. Thanks Dragan

A very thoughtful image…clever title as well. You’ve captured perfectly the soft movement along the surface of the water and also its depth in contrast and reflections. Superb! (geez…Im rambling) lol

Not only does the bridge anchor the image so well, I like the fact that the rower is also off-centre.

  • clickinhistory replied

Thank you David, wanted to get the idea of how the river bends here through the city
