Shining light onto history
This was taken from inside Bootham Bar . Scots be prepared for the story in the link
This is one of those lucky moments. I was shooting the light and shadow pattern on the Yorkshire flagstones, when a tourist stepped into the doorway.
Taken in the City Of York in North Yorkshire and converted into infrared.

LOL and not one serving beer sadly, the old saying is..a bar is a gate and a gate is a street, just to confuse people when they come to visit and as for snickleways lol thanks as always Jon

This is nice :-) Nice composition, mood, shadow…

Thank you Richard, decided against cropping the black out to build on the feeling created by the light cutting through it

Great shot… a bar is a gate and a gate is a street….Hmmm? a gate is door way, and a street is a path way… interesting….

Thanks Jeff, blame the pesky Vikings and their language which has survived in various forms locally, though imagine living on Whitnourwhatnourgate, which has been shortened to Whip-ma-whop-ma-gate, gate being the old word for street

That’s the trouble with tourists. I hope you sold her a copy!! Nice one.

lol and you should know all about tourists.. no she was in a group and seemed to be in a rush to do the walls, thanks

Love the way you composed this, and captured a tourist. The converging lines of the light are just perfect. I must research infrared; know nothing about it, nor what it adds to your photo.

LOL thanks, for once some one wandering into the shot actually helped. Oh one word of warning, if you get the infrared bug, it is addictive

Not happy about the having to knock first business…but what a well timed great shot.Just excellent…do we still have to knock one wonders??
clickinhistory replied
Now given the law to allow locals to shoot the Scots with a bow and arrow after curfew I think is still in place, it could be the knock first rule is still there, such is the long grasp of history on the present.. lol thanks for the comment..though wonder if a text sent first will count these days lol

This is so clever – the reflections and the fact that you had to be so fast to capture someone walking at a pace..just wonderful!
