Lake Elizabeth lends itself to many beautiful photo opportunities.
Lake Elizabeth was created back in 1951 when record rainfall caused a landslide which blocked the East Barwon River and formed a lake in the valley.
The lake is home to Platypuses, Pied Cormorants, many species of waterbird, and the surrounding bush is teeming with life. Look up to see Koala’s in the beautiful manna gums,(you’ll more than likely hear them grunting, before you see them anyway). Lots to see in this fern clad area, many species of birds flitting among the giant trees and Tree ferns, fabulous fungi, beautiful ferns and mosses, right down to the Otway Black snail, and the ever present Leeches (particularly after rain). Please take care where you put your feet,(native snails and snakes etc) and remember to regularly check your ankles, legs, etc for leeches while you are there.
Lake Elizabeth is so beautiful that you won’t want to leave.

Cecily, I would have to say that is one of the best photos I’ve seen of Lake Elizabeth!
Thank Lisa, was a longish walk on a warm day to get this. My daughter was the pack mule for most of my gear, and to keep an eye out for snakes. :))

Thanks Georgie, it is a lovely place and you can book an early morning canoe ride on the lake to see platypus. I never tire of going there.
