Sun Mirror was inspired by how people can seem one way from the outside but be experiencing something totally different on the inside, and this affects their perception of themselves and the world. I may seem confident and outgoing to others, but on the inside, because of my dyslexia for one thing, I feel frightened and sad at times. An image came to mind of a bright sunny world, but the reflection in the mirror was the opposite, night, and it was the only thing the person within the painting saw, as the mirror could not show her face as the rest of the world saw it. It was a reflection that was in some ways false, because it did not accurately reflect the world around her, but it was also truer, in that it was a look into her inner world, a true reflection of her feelings.
