Clark Thompson is a self taught photographer specializing in fine art landscape prints of Hawai’i. Clark was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado three minutes after his identical twin brother, Mark, and first moved to Kane’ohe in 1958 prior to the Hawai’ian Territory obtaining statehood. As a Marine Corps dependent, he also grew up in Southern California and graduated from high school in Eastland, Texas. Following graduation, Clark enlisted in the United States Navy which eventually brought him back to Hawai’i. He is a seasoned traveler having visited areas throughout North America, the Pacific Region, Asia and the Middle East. A twenty four year kama’aina, Clark has a profound love for the Islands and Hawai’ian culture. He strives to convey these concepts through his photography. After retiring from the Navy in 2000, he was immediately hired to build and manage the Military Ceremonies Program for the Battleship Missouri Memorial Association in Pearl Harbor. As the Military Liaison, he facilitated thousands of ceremonies on board “Mighty Mo” for over eight years. Clark recently resigned from that position to dedicate his attention full time to both his art form and to his business, Sunset Beach Photography. He has been married to his wonderful wife, Janet, for twenty seven years. Clark and Jan have one married son, Dylan who is currently serving with the United States Army, and have two delightful grandchildren, Kaleb Kalehuawehe and Gabriel Ho’o ulu pono.
