Chi-hu! by Clark Takashima

Chi-hu! by

Chi-hu is a call I think the equal to Yii-haw for cowboys. As surfers we have primal screams. Chi-hu might have been of Tahitian origins, whatever it is, Happiness when no words can express. This painting was a commission from Jamie O’Brien, a professional free surfer (does not compete on the world tour). What a life! He is a total professional that will inspire generations of surfers around the globe by his contemporary approach to the sport of surfing. He is one of the “Pipeline Posse” a group of heavily dedicated young surfers that is making a career of surfing Hawaii’s Banzai Pipeline better than most pro surfers on tour today. Back to the painting, it is a surf spot that could be on the west side of a Hawaiian Island, but it is a spot on the west side of my brain. Totally dreamed-up! Please check sizes as larger sizes are not available until I scan the original.
