I took some shots at Lilydale Lake this afternoon (20.06.2010) after the meetup had just about finished. (Thanks, Marg, for organizing it.) Most of them didn’t come out well as the light was fading very quickly and it was a very dull and hazy day anyway – it had rained hard in the morning and I nearly didn’t go. But it stopped raining about ½ an hour before i was due to leave, so I went . . . and nearly turned around and went home about 10 minutes after leaving! It rained on and off nearly all the way up to Lilydale.

Thankfully, it stopped before I got there and didn’t rain while we there.

I really liked the wooden bridge over part of the lake and took some bracketed shots to make an HDR. It looked great when Photomatix had finished with it, but, when I opened it in Photoshop, it had a very blue cast to it. Arrrrrrrgh! I fiddled with a number of things and almost succeeded in getting a lovely sepia version . . .almost!

I ended up Desaturating it a little bit to get rid of the blue, and this is what I ended up with. It’s reasonably close to what it should be in terms of light and colour. I’ve also cropped it.

Thanks for looking, I hope you like it.

Tripod-mounted Pentax K100D, Sigma 100 – 300 mm lens.

3 Auto-bracketed photos.

Photomatix used to process the HDR and Photoshop used for the adjustments.
