After I’d finished taking the pics of my heels for a Challenge, I had a mad thought: what if I tried to HDR one of them. I’d half packed everything away so I set it all up again and re-set my camera – Manual Mode with Auto-bracketing.
By this time, it was quite a bit later and the light was much richer. I spent a bit of time arranging the organza so that it caught the light the way i wanted. The sun had also shifted it’s position, so I moved the table a bit and turned it to catch the rich setting light. I closed the cur1,21tains so that there was only that light coming in
I’m glad I decided to shoot again because I’m really pleased with how this pic has come out.

Pentax K100d, Sigma 28 – 80 mm lens, 3 x Auto-bracketed shots, and Photomatix used to make the HDR – I used the Details Enhancer tab. (I also did one using the Tone Compressor tab – the difference between them is interesting). I then used Photshop to clean it up a little but didn’t make any changes to things like Colours, Levels or Brightness/Contrast, etc.

Thank you for sharing your work with the Photomatix HDR Group. This wonderful example of a Photomatix-processed image has been accepted into the Group!
Lol, that was very quick, Etienne. Thank you for this lovely Banner, I appreciate it.

oh i love the “rich” colors here, adds a certain seductiveness to this. The texture of the fabric- looks lush and velvety.
Lol, the fabric my shoes are sitting in is a dark red organza and when the sun shines on it, it has a beautiful blue tint – the HDR has enhanced this so well. Unfortunately, orgnaza is a rather “stiff” fabric despite it’s fineness – I imagine it might soften with repeated washing but I’m very glad I’ve never had to wear it on my bare skin!!! Many thanks for a wonderful compliment, Ruby, I’m so glad you like this.

Very cooll! The position of the shoes, off center focus, the material—all make for an intriguing image. :) One of the things that makes this shot, I think, is the stiffness of the organza. (I’m with you—wouldn’t want to wear it!) The way the HDR enhanced the colors, I thought it was two different materials.
Thank you for such a wonderful compliment, Karen, I appreciate it very much.
LOL, I thought the “under-done” pic of the three was pretty good but when I saw how this finally came up (after being fiinished in Photoshop), I was so pleased I followed my mad moment! HDR is a fascinating process, you can get so many different results with it; it’s also frustrating when you have a particular result in mind and can’t quite get what you’re after! I’m so glad this appealed to you.

Love the colour changes on the fabric
The colour change is amazing, especially depending on the light.
