This photo was taken primarily for a challenge – glass containers which must be empty. I haven’t played with glass in quite a while now so, when I saw this challenge, I decided to see what I could come up with.
I have oodles of glass vases but deciding which one/s to use wasn’t easy – I like them all. I ended up deciding to use two. Then deciding how to set it up and how to shoot it. Decisions, decisions! All up, I ended up spending about 3 hours getting this shot – an eternity for me. Lol, patience is not one of my talents. :-(
I took lots of test shots trying various f/stops and shutter speeds. I wanted the deep rich blue to stand out against the white backing while still allowing the transparent snifter to show clearly. It was a very gloomy day so the white was looking gray in just about every photo.
I finally settled on this one; the only change I made was using Curves to increase the whiteness and emphasise the blue. I was lucky that this, the last photo I took, I liked as my batteries went flat less than a second after I took it!
Many thanks for looking – I hope you like it. All comments are much appreciated.
