A fairly common kingfisher in southern Sri Lanka — hangs out on the telephone lines especially in the rice paddy areas and other wet boggy places.

Now I’m the one to be jealous David. I have been trying to get a kingfisher shot for 3 years. Of course, our kingfisher’s are not nearly as exotic looking as this one you got . . . Great Shot!
Hey John – -there are some very exotic looking Kingfishers in Asia — I onlygot photos of two this trip. Used to have lots of belted kingfishers in the west — sometimes they would let me get close enough for photos – dave
