Back in February I spent a weekend trying out smoke photography. I set up a dark room and used incense with a studio flash.

I took about 1000 shots and ended up pretty smokey but got a handful of good captures. Here’s the first one.

I don’t have any tech specs yet but I did make the mistake of shooting around f/7 to get the correct exposure with one flash. As a result some parts of the smoke are not as sharp as I would have liked. I should have used a flash on each side and brought my aperture right down.

As always, comments and criticism are always appreciated.
