Went into Adelaide City the other day with the new camera. Spent most of the day focusing on trying to get some success with HDR. It has been my first real attempt and am not totally sure with what I have achieved but will post them anyway.

This one is of the two giant mirror balls in Rundle Mall, Adelaides shopping precinct in the city.

This is similar to my other HDR of the Balls (see Balls of Steel ) but taken from a lower angle looking up at them.

As I said I am new to HDR so please give me some tips as I am not too sure about this one. It seems to me a bit in your face. But let me know what you think.

Cannon 500D (RAW)
Aperture Priority Exposure Program
Automatic Focus
1EF-S 18-55mm IS (18mm)
-2,0 and +2
f 13
ISO 100

Merged exposures in Photomatix Pro using Detail Enhancer option. Edited in Lightroom and Photoshop plus used Noiesware Professional Plugin from Photoshop to reduce noise

Any comments, advice or criticism would be greatly appreciated

this is cool too better composition of the reflections

  • Thanks again Marc, yeah I was a bit stuck between the two as to which one I liked better compo wise but this one is growing on me. Cheers for your comment. You can see I looked a bit of an idiot in Rundle Mall :-)

Really nice and a fun cameo I se, a great expressive piece!

  • Hahaha, yes I couldn’t help finding my way into this sot. Besides I wasn’t about to leave my new camera in the midle of Rundle Mall all on its lonesome :-)

    Thanks again Micpowell,

    This is just way cool..WOWWW!!!!!

  • hahaha, Thanks alot Kim! Yeah I processed it pretty heavily with HDR but it sort of is suited to the rather odd subject and chaos of the city. Once again thanks alot for your comments.

I love these images. I don’t mind your reflection in them either. I actually think it adds to the image. Well done. I really want to play with this HDR too. It looks like so much fun.
