I took this the night after I took Nighttime Iris . Unfortunately It was quite windy meaning I had to boost up the ISO to bring down the shutter speed so I could catch it still in between gusts.

I used the same technique of a 1 second exposure and then used that time to paint the light onto the flower using a torch with two pieces of white paper to diffuse the light.

DETAILS

Cannon 500D (RAW)
EF-S 18-55mm IS (30mm)
Manual Exposure Program
Manual Focus
1 Sec Exposure
f 4.5
ISO 800

Tripod

Minor adjustments in Adobe Lightroom including enhancement of colours and detail in flower and darkening of the background plus noise reduction in Adobe Photoshop using Noiseware Professional

Not as happy with this one as Nighttime Iris but still like the starkness of the white against the black background.

Any comments, advice or criticism would be greatly appreciated

Cheers,
Danny

It was certainly worth all the preparation that went into the shot. They look like they are dancing with their swirling skirts. Love it.

  • Glad you like it Untamedart. I have never saw it as dancers with swirling skirts but I can see where you are coming from. Thanks for commenting.
