A funky café in Melbourne on Little Lonsdale Street – adjacent to the art gallery the SITHOM group are considering for the “Shot in the Heart of Melbourne” exhibition. We all left feeling that the space may be full of promise and good vibes. Ell, Rhoufi and G: I wish I could have stayed for coffee with you but let’s make it another time soon, as I very much enjoyed your company :) Taken on my Nikon d3100.

My name is Claire and I’m using a Nikon d3100. I’m interested in the small detail. The quirks. Thanks for stopping by!

  • That would be fantastic!! Hopefully I can join you guys for longer than an hour or two next time and perhaps we can be a little more leisurely :D Can’t wait to do it again though, it was so much fun.

ps. Beautifully ‘cluttered’ image, love it!! :-)))

  • Thanks Ell. There is so much going on here. I only realised when I looked at it on the computer, of course. I think I like the “chai tea” chest at the front, the woman with the bow in her hair who is obscured by plates and such, and also if you notice at the back, there is a funny cat picture with the statement, “We mean serious business” – lol so much at that cat :))) xxx

You sure don’t need a ‘barista’ to argue your case! It is already full of promise and good vibes!

There’s something about the clutter here that really intrigues me, the horse/mule head, ear ring, beehive? hair with that bow, the terrible shirt ( I imagine it being green and gold, as I recently saw one like that ) HaHa. A story begins to form in my mind.
And then I read the description and realise that four photographers met here, In my mind the story elaborates some, cameras, tripods, lights etc. etc. The advent of which changes the clutter into a cluster, from which other stories may arise, given the quality of the group. :-))

  • Hi abigcat, thank you so much for your detailed comment. Yes, a photograph like this is really capturing a slice of life…I think. A story starts to develop in your mind. It’s kind of like watching a good movie: repeated viewing reveals further intricacies… I must say my favourite things about this photograph is the chai tea chest at the front, the “serious business” cat poster (makes me laugh!) and the lightning bolt above it, the lamp, and of course, the gentle smile on the barrista’s face. Thanks again for stopping by!
