Claire Foord

Camden Park, AUSTRALIA

Visual Artist Claire Foord’s journey into the field of professional art began in 2000 through study at the Centre of Performing Arts majoring in Scenic Art and set production. It wasn’t until 2009, after working in private sector business for 8 years for the most part as a Graphic Artist, that Claire realised the urge to pursue a career as a professional artist could no longer be put on hold. Through study at the School of Art, Architecture and Design in South Australia Claire completes a Bachelor of Visual Arts with a specialisation in painting.

Having experimented with many different art forms including sculpture, and photography, Claire’s greatest creative release comes through her painted works. Emotive and affecting Claire’s works evolve into a beautiful mess where residual lines and initial marks lay visible through the paintings surface. Her work is unpredictable, liberated and exposed.

Preferring to work in an open air environment using a mix of acrylics, resin, collage and spray paints, Claire endeavours to stretch her artwork, pushing and pulling it in every direction. Claire’s work is often figurative and organic in nature, beginning with a desire or goal in mind but allowing, through trial and error, the paintings to evolve creating their own outcome.

“A visual stimulant may spark one idea, a technique or process evolves and in it an entirely different outcome is resolved, that in itself is my artwork” – Claire Foord, Artist
