Plume of the Station Fire in the Angeles Natl. Forest near L.A. Looking north to the San Gabriel Mountains from Pasadena this afternoon 8/30/09. Flames are visible at the bottom of the plume and another plume visible to the lower left.

As of 8/31 this fire has burned 100,000 acres plus. Two fatalities, unknown number of “structures” destroyed. No containment for at least two weeks.

Great capture, such devistation do you know if these fires were delibertly set, or just nature doing it’s thing?

This fire, the largest in L.A. County history, is an arson fire.

Yeh, Santa Anas. Roadtrip next month as far as NC. On the way back I’ll hit some of the “Mother Road”.

Actually two firefighters died as a result. The fire was an arson.
