Uplifting Week

The Thanksgiving holiday is one I particularly enjoy- good food and good friends abounding. It is a time when I can take a moment to reflect upon all of the good things that have happened, absorb the beauty that we are surrounded by, and be thankful for my God-given creativity and the friends who enjoy it with me. But this week has been uniquely special for me. I had a work, “Ocean” featured in All About Water, a season T-Shirt design, “Three Kings,” made the top 10 in the challenge by Mornings & Evenings, I was featured in an article in the beautiful publication “Horses in Art” out of California (can be partially viewed on line at www.horsesinart.com.) I was also asked to exhibit in a local gallery opening with a special two weeks of just my work, and another gallery in a near-by city wants to do a one-man show this Spring. Yikes! I should go out and buy a lottery ticket immediately. This many wonderful happenings may never happen again all at once. The other things, though- the smaller events that have gone on lately, are probably equally if not more important. I have made some wonderful friends on the art sites, and have discovered that my form of art is not discredited by fine artists (some Very fine artists, I must add.) The encouragement I’ve found here, in particular, is just amazing. I do digital art because it’s what is available to me, it’s what I can afford (free), and it’s what I have time for now. I know that it is not a univerally accepted art form, nor is it considered fine art. That’s okay- it’s fun, it’s quick, and it’s gratifying, and I’m getting more sophisticated at it, despite no special softwear or tablet to work with. And now I’m feeling that it is appreciated for what it is by other artists of quality. Thank you, all, and have a wonderful holiday season through 2008.
