Hi Margaret, He is a Frill neck Lizard and the fan around his face only comes out when he’s angry or scared. These are really common in Australia. The idea is to make himself look bigger and dangerous. Worked on me!

Actually I just did some more research and he is actually called a bearded dragon! My mistake. A frill neck has a much bigger frill
