I have photographed this mill before. It’s a favorite place of mine, though every time I visit it, I am saddened to see it crumble more, as age, time and the elements take their toll. I can remember the mill being open when I was a small child, and how in the summer when the weather was hot, you could smell the pine lumber being sawed from over a mile away. Now, there is no pine scent. There are no saws whirring, no workers’ voices to be heard over the racket. Now there is a shell of what once was, along a stream now still. But even with her edges rough from neglect, she’s a beautiful testament to a time gone by.
