I have photographed this mill before. It’s a favorite place of mine, though every time I visit it, I am saddened to see it crumble more, as age, time and the elements take their toll. I can remember the mill being open when I was a small child, and how in the summer when the weather was hot, you could smell the pine lumber being sawed from over a mile away. Now, there is no pine scent. There are no saws whirring, no workers’ voices to be heard over the racket. Now there is a shell of what once was, along a stream now still. But even with her edges rough from neglect, she’s a beautiful testament to a time gone by.

Taken December 2012 — Moulton’s Mill, West Newfield, Maine, USA

Equipment used:
Canon EOS Rebel T3 ~ Precision Tripod ~ Canon EF 18-55mm lens (@29mm) ~ UV Filter ~ Circular Polarizer

Process:
This is a four-frame bracketed HDR, tone-mapped in Photomatix, and tweaked in Corel Paint Shop Photo Pro X3.
