In 1983, with an eye for the tourism industry, the province decided to revive the festival commemorating their expulsion of The Ayuthya Dynasty, powerful occupiers from the north. This was the seed of Thai independence. Here, we show Gen Serm, a member of The Junta, and his wife, Governor of the province, Chowlas Soblada, and his wife presiding on the inaugural. They are seen following novitiate monks.
