Butcher Beynon by

This illustration is based on Dylan Thomas’s play ‘Under MilkWood’.
The opening scenes of the play sees the residents of Llareggub asleep and dreaming. This is the dream of Butcher Beynon. Mr Beynon, in butcher’s bloodied apron, spring-heels down Coronation Street, a finger, not his own, in his mouth. Straightfaced in his cunning sleep he pulls the legs of his dreams and “hunting on pigback shoots down the wild giblets”.
