This and other images of Kangaroos roam freely where I often stay at Halls Gap, a National Park some 45 minutes from my home town.

The following information is brief facts about our native wildlife marsupial mammal. It is a macropod which means “big foot”.

When European explorers first saw these strange hopping animals they asked a native Australian (aboriginal) what they were called. He replied “kangaroo” meaning “I don’t understand your question”. The explorers thought this was the animal’s name and that’s how the kangaroo got its name…….LOL

A male kangaroo is called a boomer
A female kangaroo is called a flyer
A baby kangaroo is called a joey
