The type 14 Elite was Lotus’ first road car. Given Colin Chapman’s philosophics it was inevitable that the Elite would be more than just another grocery getter.

Designed with competition intent and with the latest space age materials, the car was light, aerodynamic, and laid claim to technical specifications as good or better than any other car of it’s day.

From the moment at the 1957 London Motor Show it was clear that this machine was something special.

Sighhh I can clearly recall my dreaming about his one, 17 years old, brand new drivers license… but alas, only enough in my pocket to get a 19 cent burger and a small Coke.

  • LOL Curly. I found these beauties at a Rose Garden in South Australia, the owner used to race them in England!
