Australian Kangaroos - Joey

Artist's Description

This and other images of Kangaroos roam freely where I’m staying at Halls Gap, a National Park some 45 minutes from my home town. The following information is brief facts about our native wildlife marsupial mammal. It is a macropod which means “big foot”. They literally come up to my caravan door where I hand feed them with bread, an amazing up close and personal experience.
When European explorers first saw these strange hopping animals they asked a native Australian (aboriginal) what they were called. He replied “kangaroo” meaning “I don’t understand” your question. The explorers thought this was the animal’s name. And that’s how the kangaroo got its name…….LOL
A male kangaroo is called a boomer
A female kangaroo is called a flyer
A baby kangaroo is called a joey
Hope you Enjoy!
